Creating a Collaborative School Culture
It is important for a school to develop a collaborative school culture which ensures that all the needs of the students are met. In creating a collaborative school culture, it is important for all the school leaders to put their effort in the plan. Without the collaboration and efforts from the staff, teachers and parents, it may be difficult to create a collaborative school culture. According to James (2008), collaboration cannot be coerced nor compelled, but instead, school leaders must help all members of the school community feel a sense of pride and ownership in their work.
One of the long term goal that can help in creating a collaborative school culture is to create a meaningful opportunities for work. The reason for developing this goal is that, people are more willing to collaborate on work that has a significant personal meaning for them. Organizing people around projects in which they feel personally invested will create more synergy for the project, energizing faculty, staff and parents and advancing a collaborative culture (Wright & Wright, 2007). The four objectives that will scaffold to enable the school achieve long term goal include; creating a stronger professional networks for sharing information, celebrate the work of others, coordinate efforts, and expanding leadership opportunities.
In the overall goal special education team and the site administrators will play a crucial role. Special education team will ensure that all the teachers are treated equally. The special education team ensures that all the educators, that is, general educators as well as special educators are given equal opportunities in their work. On the other hand, site administrators will ensure that the required resources are available for all the educators. The resources provided by the site administrators will facilitate all the activities in education as well as used by the educators in advancing in their careers.
