This module discussed the importance of communication. One of the goals of GCU is to help you to effectively communicate throughout your life. Access and review the “Communication Tool.” Why is it important to communicate effectively with others? How will effective communication help students in their academic career? Give examples. Why do you think GCU emphasizes quality discussion posts and proper etiquette in the Discussion Forums?

Answer:
Communication is the key to all understanding and without communication we cannot effectively function throughout life in the work place, relationships, and with family. It is very important to communicate effectively with others because every individual has their own thoughts and opinions about life and everyday situation. With communication we all can understand each other in a more precise manner without less stress and better communicating skills.
Effective communication skills will help students succeed in their academic careers, because each student has to have proper communication skills to further them to understand and know how to follow instructions, so without the necessary communication skills the chances of a student mastering their academic career will be slim. Some good examples of effective communication skills would be understanding your instructor’s assignments and being able to correspond with the instructor in a professional manner, another example with be having the ability to effectively interact with fellow students as far as group assignments and group projects and without good communication skills the student’s interactions would not be successful.
GCU emphasizes quality discussion post and proper etiquette in the discussion forums because it helps build communication skills with the instructors and fellow classmates. The forums also helps the instructors to evaluate each students communication skills and properly help the students achieve their full potential speaking, thinking, and understanding skills, as well as proper writing skills in their professional academic career. I think the forums are detrimental to all students as well, because it gives students the chance to interact with each other and learn communication skills from each other.
