Plagiarism
Plagiarism is when you steal someone else’s work and try to make it look like your own. This is a serious act that people do daily. To steal work and then lie about it afterwards is not okay at any time. Have your own thoughts and ideas.
Plagiarism is a huge problem in academic work. I think it is such a big problem because students do it and get away with it time and time again without consequences. In my opinion students plagiarize because they either don’t know how to do the work they were assigned or they are too lazy and don’t make time and put their school work first.
They’re many different ways you can avoid common causes of plagiarism. To start off, whenever you use anyone else’s work, just make sure to cite it and cite it correctly. Another thing that helps to not plagiarize is to look away from the source text while you are writing. This helps make you put the text into your own words and ideas. Lastly, another way to avoid plagiarism is to make sure you have enough time to complete the assignment as well as having resources to complete it, and if you don’t know or get something, ask!
After reflecting on the overall objectives, a key takeaway for me is that plagiarism is never okay. It might seem like the easy thing to do at times, but you won’t learn from it and you can have severe consequence that isn’t worth it. Use your own mind and thoughts, people always like to hear that better anyways!
