Practice Problems in Nursing

The nursing profession has been an import component of the health services around the globe. However, there challenges associated with this job which sometimes makes it difficult for the nurses to deliver their services efficiently wherever they are at work. Long working hours is the core reason that is affecting the provision nursing service delivery in hospitals (Moorheadet al. 2014).

In past few decades, the roles attached to nurses have changed relative to the environment one would be working. With this in mind, the universal objective of any nurse is to provide optimal healthcare services to the patients and those who seek these services.

According to research conducted by Moorhead et al. (2014), most of the nurses in public and community facilities tend to have a common feature in their performance at work. This is because they are entitled to working for a quite long time and in different shifts which do not provide them with some enough time to rest (Parahoo, 2014). Ninety percent of all the nurses that were interviewed in the research had some psychological issues and sought help from the counselors and psychiatrist. These problems could be traced to the working hours with limited days of, and thus they are not able to take care of other social issues surrounding them.

The study of how research is impacting the nursing profession is essential in establishing the factors that have been affecting the nurses’ performance both psychologically and professionally (Holloway, & Galvin, 2016). The analysis gives the employers the reasons behind the relative and significant underperformance of nurses in the recent years. This, therefore, paves way for formulating and restructuring the assignment schedule that allows the nurses to have sufficient time off duty as well as improving their immediate working environment.
