Causes and Symptoms of Mental Disorders
DMS- Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental Disorders is a combination of mental disorders that have similar characteristics or symptoms. Anxiety, dissociative, depression, eating disorder, bipolar disorder, is some disorders that are classified under this category. Obsessive actions, self-doubt, Self-consciousness, unreasonable worry, Fright, lack of sleep are some of the common symptoms of these disorders, (Spitzer 2011).
For example, anxiety is caused by everyday activities that require a response. It can be caused by environmental factors, drug abuse, genetics or brain chemistry. People with anxiety tend to be more isolated and often quiet. Anxiety is classified and diagnosed under different categories.
• Generalized anxiety disorder
• Social anxiety disorder
• Post-traumatic stress disorder
• Obsessive-compulsive Disorder
• Separation anxiety disorder
People who suffer from this disorders can be diagnosed and be treated using proper medical attention.
