Example Concept
Baseball
Baseball is a sport involving 9 players positioned in various places on a field, who are attempting to keep the other team from advancing bases.
There are many ways to score runs in baseball. The most efficient way is for your team to get a series of base hits eventually bringing runners home. In order to do this, players must have good hitting ability, running ability, and judgment.
Quality pitchers are more important than power hitters, because keeping runs off the board could give the pitcher’s team more opportunity to win. Teams that have better pitchers almost always end up being the better team.
Part A: Concept of your Choice
Chess
It’s a game involving two players on a chessboard each attempting to put the other in a checkmate situation.
There are a couple of ways to win the game which include putting the other player in a checkmate situation or voluntarily accepting defeat after much of your materials are lost or it could also emerge as a draw. To be a winner you must be tactical in your movements.
Players able to properly coordinate their pieces based on long term strategies taken to defend the king and also intelligently being able to predict an opponent ‘s move are likely to win and also factors such as experience in the duration one has played the game also play a key role in winning.
Part B: Concept selected from your persuasive essay
King
Typically represents a piece in a chess game which needs to be protected from being put in an inescapable situation.
An example is when one puts a piece known as a queen next to the king. Due to the fact that a queen is allowed to move in any direction on the chessboard, it hence deters any movement of the king and in turn this leads to a win.
In any instance while playing the game, one has to be very careful and tactically calculate your moves that would shield the king using other pieces from any attack that could lead to a defeat.
Part C: In 200-250 words explain the relationship between informative, explanatory, and persuasive statements and critical thinking
Informative statements are those that try to create awareness about something but in specific for example a new product or service that is being offered by certain institution. Explanatory statements on the other hand are those that try to explain the occurrence of a particular issue for example why Britain exited the European union and persuasive statements which are those that try to make one agree into undertaking something. Last but not least is critical thinking which is whereby a certain party based on facts presented to him/her is able to make a rational decision and judgement of a particular issue after their analysis.
The statements clearly have a direct relation in that when you inform your target audience about something you should clearly explain the issue and the reason why you put it into consideration then the factor of persuasion joins in with an argumentative angle of view using the information and explanation provided trying to put a certain point into acceptance. Then, this is where critical thinking plays its major role in that one has to spend a considerable amount of time researching on a particular topic so that to be able to bring your audience that you are targeting with your essay into accepting your sense of reasoning on issues
