PSY 510 Topic 1 DQ2
Review the preamble and general principles section of the code of ethics. What is the purpose of these sections? In reviewing the general principles, which do you feel is the most impactful or influential to the practice of psychology? Explain.
Answer:
The purpose of the preamble and general priciples section is both to protect the client and the psychologist these sections are also set up due to special guildlines set forth as a example of how the clients must be treated regardless of race, creed, disabilities , or any other biases or prejudice. I think fidelity and responsibility are the most infuential and impactful practices in psychology, because it really protects the clients privacy and also guarantees that the client will be treated like a human beings and not just subjects or a source of research. I also think that principle E is very important because it respects peoples rights and dignity. “Ethics are principles of action based on a commonly accepted system of values, and agreement upon these principles and values must be reached before progress toward an acceptable code can be expected” (GCU, p. 486).
