There are a number of potential problems that may arise when the private sector is given the responsibility of delivering social services to the general public; one, the private sector will only provide services that are within their control and ignore the rest which are beyond their control unattended, this can lead to a major problems in the society because some services which are very key in day today life will be missing simply because the work is outsourced to a private firm. Another potential problem might arise due to lack appropriate expertise in the private sector in providing the social services to the public leading to poor quality of services, this way members of the society will receive limited services as compared to when the public sector takes the responsibility (Head, Brian and John Alford, 2015).

The private sector will only concentrate on delivering the services they have been paid to do and leave the rest despite the situation , this can as well cause a social hazard in the society especially if the issue needs to be attended urgently and there is no one to do so.

On the other hand, there are a numbers of advantages associated with private sector involvement in providing social services to the public, one of them is lowered costs in service delivery, in most cases the financial cost becomes less as compared to when the service is offered by the public sector. Also the private sector adds to new ideas of providing the social services by bringing in new expertise and technology which in return improves the services delivered and the public sector could be missing. The private sector also reduces the number of employees needed in the public sector which is an added advantage to the government in terms of management (Head, Brian and John Alford, 2015).
