THIS IS THE FINAL PROJECT, PLEASE FOLLOW EVERY INSTRUCTION CAREFULLY!
Option 1: Podcast Project
A 10-12 minute podcast recording that you may complete individually or with a partner. The podcast should:
- Focus on one specific passage from one of the literary texts on the syllabus.
- Provide the historical context under which the text was written, including dominant ideologies about gender and sexuality norms at the time.
- Summarize the passage and contextualize it within the overall work.
- Explain what ideas about gender and sexuality you see the text engage with.
- Evaluate whether you think these ideas about gender and sexuality reinforce and/ or challenge the dominant ideologies you identified in #2.
- Draw from at least 1 secondary (theoretical source) on the syllabus or a key concept covered in class.
Option 2: Final Paper
A 1,250-1,750–word (5-7 pages double-spaced) paper responding to one of the three prompts (see assignment handout). The paper should:
- Present a well-supported argument that utilizes evidence from close reading literary analysis.
- Discuss at least 1 literary text on the syllabus.
- Draw from at least 1 secondary (theoretical) source on the syllabus or a key concept covered in class.
- Utilize MLA citations.
