- Many so-called “global” artists produce work shaped by the various countries they have lived in and the respective cultures, customs, and histories they have been exposed to firsthand. Explain how this is seen in the formal properties and content of an artwork by one of the following artists from the Chapter 27 PowerPoint: Shahzia Sikander, El Anatsui, Do Ho Suh, Mona Hatoum, or Yinka Shonibare.
- Despite the all of the technological and economic advancements made in the global age, not all have benefitted. Many recent artists, including Félix González-Torres, Doris Salcedo, and Krzysztof Wodiczko, have thus used their practice to draw attention to the most vulnerable and/or overlooked members of society. Select an artwork by one of the aforementioned artists from the Chapter 27 PowerPoint to describe and analyze noting how they used their practice to raise awareness or pay homage to the sick, the disappeared, or the homeless.
