Explain how the integration of creative arts can support reading and oral language in early childhood? How does integrating creative arts and English language arts in instruction benefit early readers? Explain.

Creative arts heightens cognitive and socio-emotional capabilities in children. These creative activities include handcrafts, music, visuals, and working with clay. According to Hall (2019), creative arts reduce stress levels among children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds; it develops a child’s motor skills. The development of motor skills is of essence in a child’s capability to write letters or words. Equally, brain development is accelerated through listening to music. Through enhanced brain development, reading skills and language acquisition develop tremendously. Further, Hall (2019) notes that there is a connection between brain development and arts. Infusion of creative arts in the learning process creates multidimensional children that are innovative and creative.

Through art, children learn to interpret visual modes used in a communication process. For instance, multimodal texts convey messages in more than one way. The message can be relayed through a text and an image (French, 2013). When a teacher talks about pictures that children encounter in their daily encounter, they correlate it with the right meaning. Learners get to understand that images are constructed and they relay a message.
