Jails and prisons are both considered incarceration facilities. However, the types of offenders housed in these facilities and the mission (role) of the facilities differ.
- Compose an essay of 500 – 700 words where you discuss differences in jails and prisons as incarceration facilities. As part of your discussion evaluate not only the types of offenders housed in these incarceration facilities, but also the missions (roles) of the incarceration facilities.

Intermediate sanctions are a form of punishment that lies somewhere on the punishment spectrum between incarceration and standard probation supervision. The type of intermediate sanctions applied can vary based upon the individual needs of an offender and severity/type of crime that was committed.
