The nursing profession has faced some challenges that have affected the outcomes in various healthcare facilities. Nurses have a role to play in ensuring that patients can quickly recover through the assistance of the attending doctors. As a result, it has become essential to consider the factors that make it hard for nurses to succeed in their operations. In most of the healthcare facilities, it has become hard to meet the demands of the patients as they have not had a healthy working environment which will promote their success in the long run. on the other hand, deal with patients requires nurses to work together as a team. Teamwork is one of the challenges that has affected the nursing profession since it has become hard to maintain team relations. As a result, teamwork has become hard to achieve in the nursing profession since there is ineffective communication among the nurses. 

According to the article, the nursing profession faces challenges which affect their way of operations. For instance, nurses do not communicate effectively since they may not have come from the same backgrounds. In this case, the cultural differences among the nurses have affected the way in which they interact and work together in the hospitals (Aase, Aase & Hansen, 2014). Also, the article explains some of the challenges that nurses face when working in nations away from their home countries where they do not know the communication methods and the different languages used. As a result, there is lack of effective communication which will thus make it hard to facilitate teamwork among the employees. Most of the nurses do not end up working in their home countries as they have to travel abroad to offer services to patients in different hospitals. However, maintaining teamwork calls for the utilization of communication and interacting with the nurses in a facility.

From the article, nurses will only succeed where they work together to meet the demands of the patients. Once there is communication and creation of a healthy working environment, the nurses will work towards achieving success since they will form performance team whose goal will remain the achievement of organizational goals and objectives. From the article, most of the nursing students fail to understand their roles in interprofessional teamwork (Aase, Aase & Hansen, 2014). For some, the act of being team members does not make them feel successful in the profession. However, the article states that it has become essential to ensure that the nursing students have a way of learning about some of their roles in promoting teamwork in the healthcare facilities. The understanding of the fact that individual efforts do not lead to the success of the profession in the hospitals should be taught in the learning facilities.

The article uses a qualitative method of analysis which is intended to understand why the nurses fail to embrace cultural competence which would enable them to work together as a team. In some case, the medical errors and omissions that take place in the nursing profession revolve around the issue of cultural competence and the inability to work together as a team (Aase, Aase & Hansen, 2014). As a result, the methods of analysis show that most of the nursing students do not find it relevant to embrace cultural competence that would facilitate teamwork and improvement of organizational success. In this case, the analysis showed that a large number of the nursing students still hold on to the traditional perceptions where they fail to embrace cultural diversity and work towards meeting the demands of all patients regardless of their cultural backgrounds. Also, engaging in teamwork, according to the article, would show the competence of the students once they join the hospitals where they will have to provide services.

The article used primary sources of data to gather information which later led to the derivation of results. For instance, acquiring data from the medical students and the nursing students showed that the nursing students did not recognize the importance of working together with the others a way which would enable them to learn about different cultures. However, the medical students realized that they would have to assist each other so that they could become successful in their roles in the hospitals (Aase, Aase & Hansen, 2014). The results also showed that cultural differences have always become detrimental to organizational success in the healthcare facilities. When a nurse cannot handle the diversity of a fellow worker, it gives the implication that working together as a team will become impossible and this will affect the performance of the entire hospital in future. The act of taking and sharing of responsibilities will ensure that an organization will meet the needs of patients.

Based on the information provided in the article, going through the nursing school requires one to understand the nature of the diversity they might encounter when performing their various duties and roles. On the other hand, nurses should always aim at having good relations with their fellow workers so that through effective communication, they will meet the demands of the patients and this will also make improvements in the organizational performance. When handling patients, nurses should have an understanding of the cultural diversities and the impact which it has on the types of health services offered. In this case, it will become possible to promote teamwork and improvements on hospital performance. Therefore, every nurse should play their roles with efficiency so that they meet the goals and objectives of a healthcare facility in providing care to the patients.

In conclusion, cultural competency is one of the factors that each of the nurses should consider when undertaking the course and implementing it in future jobs. In this case, cultural competence enables nurses to communicate effectively and embrace teamwork. Therefore, when the nurses join the workforce in the healthcare facilities, they should have an understanding of their roles and duties which will involve cultural competence as part of their jobs (Aase, Aase & Hansen, 2014). Also, the nurses should focus on helping each other to overcome the challenges which they face in their duties.  The nursing profession requires cultural competence so that it will promote effective communication and teamwork.
