Part A: OrganizationalCulture and Readiness Assessment
The organizational culture of the target hospital setting shows readiness for the implementation of mindfulness-based interventions for veterans. The organizational culture survey tool utilized for this setting is questionnaires which nurses and other clinicians filled out for qualitative analysis of the culture of the target hospital. Upon review of the questionnaire results, it was determined that the organizational culture of the hospital is mainly anchored in collaboration and holistic approach to care. The main indicators for this organizational culture were the interaction among employees, considerations made towards patients, and general belief of the employees in responsibility towards the patients. From this assessment, it was determined that the organization is ready to implement mindfulness-based interventions (MBI) for veterans and hence the evidence-based project can be carried out in this particular hospital setting.
The main barrier or challenge to this project is the hospital nurses’ understanding of MBI and their understanding of the significance of monitoring symptoms related to MBI. Overall, this problem can reduce the effectiveness of the intervention. However, the hospital has a supportive management. The main people who can assist in the implementation of the intervention are the research experts who are attached to the organization. These experts can assist in training nurses regarding MBI and also integrating clinical inquiry. The main approach to integrating clinical inquiry will be by providing nurses with guidance of questions that they will ask their patients to learn about their health progress. The collaboration of nurses and the research experts will be utilized in the implementation of the project interventions.
