Week 1 DQ 1 Career Possibilities
Now that you are familiar with I/O psychology, if you wanted to pursue a career in this area, what could you do between now and graduation to make this career possible? What unique opportunities does the field of I/O psychology present in the workplace? In which area of I/O psychology would you specialize?
I am after a career that needs the knowledge of organizational and industrial psychology. The church organization is the sphere of my study as I need to analyze the system so that its managerial process can be improved. This is a task assigned as a voluntary job that can provide me opportunities to see through myself. I can test myself to see in which areas I am equipped with much skill. The area of people management is a complex one. I may be able to find out if I am endowed with some other skills or natural flair to manage different responsibilities. The church organization will benefit from this. According to Youssef (2012), this is how the organization will become most effective in its performances. The ministry will be taken as the priority to have the effects.
When I have completed my observations, I will go through the whole process so that there could room for improvement and accuracy. I want to get training so that I can better manage the productivity of the employees. I should get involved in the business maintenance and employee management. It is true that I do not have skills in statistical analysis but I am good at management. That is why I am almost 75% ahead in the way. According to Youssef (2012), this particular type of psychology makes use of different methods and principles that altogether help increase productivity of the employees.
The principles of I/O psychology can help create an atmosphere where productivity increases. Different areas of the society can benefit from the outcome of the use of this special I/O psychology. The use of this psychology makes the work atmosphere measurable in different ways. The productivity of the organization can be measured. According to Youssef (2012), people working or staying in the organization can have effects when they are appreciated. This has a positive outcome in the organization.
