Ethical issues can arise between psychology and the legal system. What are some examples of ethical issues arising between these two entities? Use examples from this week’s required readings to support your claims.

Answer:

Ethical issues may arise between psychologist and the legal system for many reasons that is why there are guildelines that both the legal system/psychologist have to follow as well as laws, regulations, and ethical standards that must be carried out.The legal system is also thought to only work for the gifted and well off anyways so this alone is a priviledge and there is always going to be controversy between law and peoples meantal stability.I think a major point would be to be able to identify was is scientic proven and understood from a psychological point of view,I feel as if the psychologist should be able to determine a clients state of mind when presenting legal documentation of the client to the court of law. From this weeks reading I learned a lot from reading Criminal Responsibility:the role of the Psychologist in assessment wriiten by Murray,Ferguson and James,R.P.Ogloff an example I would like to share from this weeks reading is the issue with the case of the psychologist ability to possibly refuse to obtain permission from a male relative to obtain consent from a female living in this culture on the grounds that any action that priviledges the opinion of a third party.
