Describe how website advertising can potentially lead to the violation of other ethical standards.

Answer:

The Federal Trade Commission Act set forth requirements for truth in advertising and created the FTC to enforce the provisions of the act” (Chron). Website advertising can potentially lead to the violations of other ethical standards when a psychologist falsifies information to mislead clients or the public. “Psychologists comply with this Ethics Code in public statements relating to their professional services, products, or publications or to the field of psychology. Public statements include but are not limited to paid or unpaid advertising, brochures, printed matter, directory listings, personal resumes or curriculum vitae, interviews or comments for use in media, statements in legal proceedings, lectures and public oral presentations, and published materials” (APA). These ethical standards keeps medical personnel accountable for patients confidentiality and gives patients the security that their personal information will not be shared without their consent.
