Answer:
Knowing who you are what culture you come from our thoughts, actions, and feelings are ways in which knowledge about self through organized cognitive information which motivates our behavior. We begin early on in our lives as children to learn to identify with who we are through gaining knowledge and also by psychologist and our peers simply asking basic questions about individuals.Self influences our judgment of others by how they carry themselves, their cultural backgrounds, how unlike we are in appreance and actions, as well as our emtions and feelings. Eastern and Western cultures define self identity by independent view of self which is a way of defining oneself in terms of one’s own internal thoughts, feelings, and actions and not in terms of thoughts, feelings, and actions.(Kitayama&Uchida,2005) Another way eastern and western cultures define self is called interdependent view of self, which is a way to define oneself interms of one’s relationship to other people and recognizing that one’s behavior is often determined by the thoughts, feelings, and actions of others. Culture and sex plays a major role in defining self in eastern and western cultures because a women is less of value, many people of these cultures react soley on traditions versus in american culture self is about owns own identity whereas in cultures from different parts of the world rely solely on what has been passed on for many generations such prearranged marriages, and having the elders to be the deciding factor on one’s life.
