1. Difference between a vision statement and a mission statement.

Mission and vision statements articulate an organizations values and services and its place in the competing world. They guide the organization towards long-term goals and influence every aspect of the organization and its operations.  So, basically we can say that mission and vision describe the goals and objectives of an organization. But often people get confused in vision and mission statements.

The vision projects the future status of the organization or where the organization imagines being in coming time whereas the mission explains the ongoing time independent goals or the purpose of the soul existence of the organization and how it continues to maintain the current state.  A vision is the end result of mission. Vision statements tell what we wish to accomplish as a result of the work we have taken up or we wish to take up. On the other hand mission statements tell us what we need to do in order to accomplish the goal and who all are benefited from it.

A vision describes hopes from the organization on successful outcomes. What comes first depends on the state of the organization. If it is emerging then the vision guides the mission and if it has accomplished its mission then vision will guide mission. While mission covers the current state of the organization in terms of its internal and external resources and capabilities, the vision covers the expectations from ongoing projects or upcoming deals which could bring better fortune. Mission focuses on the present and vision on the future.  Mission informs about the processes and the level of performance. Vision is a source of motivation and inspiration, it not only describes the change in organization but also the changes and benefits it would bring to the society.
