Psychology for Life

After taking both of the self-evaluation stress test, the results showed that, I have a high chance that stress will lead me to being sick in the future. With both of test combine, it certainly confirms that there are many stress factors in my life. Although not completely surprised with the evaluation result, I am truly shocked and frightened to know I am in the danger zone since trying to reduce the amount of stress that happens in my daily life after receiving a recent medical diagnosis of heart problems. After reading the readings and having more knowledge of how other signs of the stress have a positive, negative or exhausting circumstance, I will discuss how stress influences the body, how to change the effect of the signs of stress, and how to understand stress related behaviors in everyday life.

Stress is often a good thing if done in moderation. Stress can influence the body in many ways. It can get the blood flowing, but can also cause problems such and high blood pressure.  It is capable of helping a person to react more swiftly in certain situation yet cause low energy and depression. People can remove themselves from stressful situations completely by recognizing these signs of stress from low energy, headaches, and upset stomach in which took a toll on my body not long ago ( Kotz, 2008) Knowing that stress can take this kind of toll on the body, by causing high blood pressure. I did not take in consideration that it was causing other symptoms that I had and are experiencing now such as early signs of heart disease. We blame others for our stress, but we put ourselves in situations that can cause stress. The evaluation also pointed out that in order for anyone to decrease stress in their life is not take on new obligations. Stress is a big part of our lives. Stress affects the body when there are signs of modifications with emotional, significant, and mental response.

Changing the effects of the signs of stress gives us motivation to compare something is not bad, but that becomes harmful when we do not turn it off (Carmichael, 2009). This is exactly how I see stress as affecting me since starting a new position at work and trying to maintain focus on school at the same time. If people do not recognize their own stress in a healthy way and give themselves rest when they sense the need, stress will slowly influence the body slowly, wearing it down and causing even more health problems. I often fail to recognize stress in my own body. Frequently we blame stress for everything. Staying calm when my body is me telling that I am experiencing a stress factor, learning breathing techniques and changing the effects to reduce high levels of stress when overwhelmed. A great deal of us tends to flip the pressure hormone change to on and abandon it there (Carmichael, 2009).

After learning that stress is define as an emotional and mental state, how to understand stress related behaviors in everyday life, I realize along with taking on many responsibilities over the years, that I have taking on more behavioral stressors associated with the mental part of stress. One of my strong mental stresses is school. I had a lot of anxiety when signing up for online classes but I took action and emotionally I find a way not worry about how I would get through the classes. By learning to reduce stress and identifying what is causing the emotional and mental stress I am sure that it result in less symptoms.

Overall, stress can change all stages to people well being including, our thoughts, way of thinking, and our ability. It makes you feel like you are no longer in control by becoming easily agitated frustrated and moody with tense muscles, forgetfulness and disorganization. Taking both evaluation test enable me to consider how to find a way to decrease and keep up the steps to reduce and maintain stress more effectively if cannot be resolved (Lecture 1, 2013).
