ECE 620 Topic 5 DQ 2
There are different learning types. Musical, linguistic, and bodily kinesthetic naturally work together. What are the potential pros and cons of integrating music, movement, or dance into reading instruction?
Different learning types are utilized concurrently for effective learning process. The linguistic learning style enhances a learner’s ability to understand written and spoken language. On the other hand, musical learning style is used to make a learner to discern tone, pitch or rhythm. Equally, bodily kinesthetic learning is anchored in the use of hands in learning. In essence it is physical learning through exploring and discovering. These learning styles can be combined depending on the learning environment and the subject.
A reading instruction can be brought forth through a combination of learning styles. According to Alharbi, incorporating Scriptol and implicit questions as well as graphic and semantic organizers enhance the reading process in learners. They reflect a combination of different learning types that play a critical role in effective learning. However, a combination of different learning types is time consuming. A teacher might not achieve the set objectives in a lesson when there are different learning styles in use.
