Consider how being part of a crowd or group changes your behavior. How can deindividuation change people’s behavior? Could deindividuation lead to positive outcomes? What is a way to encourage members of a crowd to behave in line with their “normal” values?
Answer:
I am a member of the fifth largest african american international fraternity I love the brotherhood although at times the titans do clash, since I have been a member my fraternity my behavior has changed due to me trying to fit in with the younger brothers being that I pledged as a non traditional student so I can say the group I am in has changed my behavior so crowds and groups do have an impact on your behavior.
history and research show that groups also can make decisions that are far worse than those of individuals (Branson, Steele, & Sung, 2010)
Most groups have a number of well-defined social roles, which are shared expectations in a group about how particular people are supposed to behave (Hare, 2003).
Deindividuation can change people behavior because if you are put in certain situations you are likely to do what you real do normally or by yourself so this bevior could lead to deindividuation.
My thoughts on deindividuation leading to positive outcomes are no there can be no positive outcomes, because you could get in trouble, kicked out or banned from a venure or place of business or loose respect for yourself.
A way to encourage members of a crowd to behave in line with their values and norms would be to encourage the group to be on their best behavior because, we are meeting the U.S President along with his senior staff today everyone has to drees up not your usual khakis and button downs but full business attire.
