The first profession I chose is mental health and substance abuse social worker.
For this profession the following level of education and type of training are necessary;
To enter this profession one must have a bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW). To advance his or her career one needs to acquire a master’s degree in social work (MSW). For administrative position, one needs a doctorate in social work (DSW or PhD).
Other qualifications required for this profession are: A social worker needs to be sensitive to people’s problems, needs to be emotionally mature and unbiased. Additionally a social worker needs to be responsible and he or she must be able to work alone. One can volunteer as a social worker aid, which will help him or her receive hands-on experience before one decides that this is what he or she wants to do for a career (U.S. Department of Labor, 2011).
