Abstract
Basic to the needs to businesses to improve for is a comprehensive view of their systems and processes. Riordan Manufacturing is no different in this regard. To know the companies current position and what direction to go next, they need to fully understand all systems and processes in Riordan Manufacturing’s finance and accounting, human resources, information systems, legal, operations, and sales and marketing departments.
One common finding among many of the departments is the need for a common systems solution. At the present time finance and accounting, human resources, and operations all have multiple systems which could be better managed with a common software solution such as an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program. Additionally, implementation of an ERP system could provide a common system benefit for sales department as well. The key implementing the ERP solution method suggested here will be upgrading the information systems to common platforms such as a common WAN network running on T1 connections. Additionally, enhanced security systems should be implemented with the hardware upgrades as well.
